Look at that beautiful crib! The crib of hope. The crib that represented a little life. It's where I would one day place a peacefully sleeping baby.
But then the diagnosis happened...
If you're from the Upstate of South Carolina and you've had to travel I-26 for any reason, you know how utterly ridiculous the construction can be. It seemed like the stretch of road from Chapin to Columbia would never be completed and there was no way around it. You just had to go through it.
That's what life is like after a CHD diagnosis. It seems never-ending and you have no choice but to go through it. Your dreams, like the one represented in this picture, have to change. There is no detour.
Here's the good news though. As we are walking through the valley, we can be assured that God's light reaches there too. Even in the deepest, darkest of times. There may be no detours, but the valley is temporary. There are better days ahead!
Psalm 23:4 - "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
With HEARTfelt love,
Katie
