Navigating the Fog

Have you ever felt lost trying to figure out where God was leading you?

I don’t know about you, but I am guilty of wanting the whole plan laid out in front of me. Especially in the beginning when we knew very little about HLHS and even less about how to navigate such an unimaginable diagnosis.

More often than not, though, the Shepherd gives us the next step instead of the whole map.

My husband and I visited Lake Lure after Hurricane Helene and I snapped this picture. While the fog is beautiful, I would not want to be on the top of that mountain trying to navigate through the fog on a winding road where I am unfamiliar with my surroundings. Navigating the unknown is much like driving through fog or an intense rainstorm. You can only see what’s right in front of you. That is all you can focus on at the moment. It may be scary or intense. It may require your full attention just to get through. So you keep moving slowly, one stretch of road at a time.

His perspective is infinite. He sees what we cannot. He knows the whole road when we can barely see the next step. Who better to guide our lives than the One who sees the path from beginning to end?

When we stay close to the Shepherd, trust Him, and follow Him, He leads us down the path He has chosen for us. We don’t have to know the path. We just have to know the Shepherd. A heart that follows the Shepherd will never truly be lost. The Shepherd whispers to me and tells me which way to go. I am led by His voice. Even when we cannot see the whole path, we can trust the Shepherd who does.

Make me to know your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.  Psalm 25:4-5

With HEARTfelt love,

Katie
