Before heading to the hospital, a friend of mine suggested collecting verses that would help keep us rooted in God's Word while we were literally being thrown into a brand new existence. I put it out on Facebook to have other friends help me out, and they really came through. We collected all of the verses you see in the picture below and we taped this wall of verses to the back of the bathroom door.
When my feelings came along (and they did in abundance) to try to replace my faith with fear, these verses were ready to remind me that I was not alone. I have a personal relationship with Jesus that casts out all of my fears.
I wish I were more artistic, because I love Jennifer Rothschild's idea of "grace graffiti." In her book, Psalm 23, she has a picture of a valley and encourages readers to list all of the reasons you have NOT to be afraid.
Hospital life pretty much requires you to put something in place to remind you that faith and truth are more powerful than fear. Nothing you fear is more powerful than God! His perfect love is casting out fear.
"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." 1 John 4:18a
With HEARTfelt love,
Katie
